All Sunderland Elementary students, Grades K-6, participated in their first Cooler Communities event this year, which was coordinated by the school librarian. Each grade focused on a unique topic or theme, that included energy efficiency, pollinator gardens, up-cycling, and wind power. A total of 16 local organizations – a record! – were on hand to speak to attending parents and offer information and opportunities to connect to the community. Tables included Community Shared Agriculture, pollinator friendly plants, energy audits, community solar, and much more.  A unique feature and treat was a free vegetarian dinner, earth friendly and tasty, to all visitors. Almost all parents as well as the principal and superintendent attended the very lively event.
