Middleborough ran a remarkable Cooler Middleborough event that featured an inflatable whale and many fascinating displays and kids activities by NECWA, a local non-profit protecting ocean life. Four student groups were involved: 5th grade displayed their thoughtfully designed solar ovens, the High School experimented with and documented the results of different kinds of insulation materials in their model homes, the YESS club developed the pledges for visitors to take and designed an “on the spot” display of pledges taken and their equivalent in carbon savings and the school’s TV channel sent sent a student reporter to document the event.
From home energy upgrades to clean heat, from solar to community solar, visitors had many options to pledge earth-friendly improvements.
