Lee, MA

Welcome to Cooler Communities Lee!

Lee Elementary School teachers Paula Duhon (Science) and Brandon Boule (Art) have long been champions of environmental education. Their students participated in a Cooler Communities program as part of Lee’s Earth Day Celebration. Students exhibited a number of posters and projects related to waste reduction and composting, and offered activities like a nature scavenger hunt, wildflower seed bombs, leaf rubbing, and veggie printing. They also took visitors on a tour of their school’s vegetable garden which provides produce to Lee’s food pantry. Another highlight of the event was the stunning trash sculpture built by Brandon Boule.

Local non-profits like Citizens Climate Lobby, Housatonic River Association, the Lee Community Garden and others also provided ways for visitors to learn, play and pledge action.
