Greater Commonwealth Virtual School (GCVS)
Middle school students at Greater Commonwealth Virtual School presented their Cooler Communities projects at a virtual event. Each grade had a unique focus on sustainability. 6th graders wrote letters to their government officials to bring awareness to an issue they felt passionate about such as industrialized agriculture, endangered animals, and deforestation. 7th graders designed energy efficient houses and then gave real estate pitches to showcase their value. 8th graders created action plans and strategies to solve problems related to climate change. Students then got to hear the story of a young engineer and her story about her path from passion to action!
The Greater Commonwealth Virtual School (GCVS) is a K-12 public school in which all instruction is delivered online. It is a school of choice, serving over 600 students from across Massachusetts who need a learning community that is accessible and flexible. GCVS is running its first Cooler Communities program in 2022. Join us!
