Welcome to Framingham Cooler Communities Fair!
The Framingham Public Schools (FPS), in collaboration with the Cooler Communities Program and the City of Framingham held Framingham’s first Cooler Communities Fair at Harmony Grove Elementary School on Saturday, May 21st. In addition to showcasing exhibits and materials developed by FPS students on climate change, energy efficiency, and related subjects, this pilot event featured several vendors, service providers, and community experts who were available to talk with attendees on high-impact actions to become more energy efficient, reduce their energy costs, and adopt clean energy solutions that work for them. The fair also included fun recreational activities for children like outdoor lawn games as well as an appearance by the Framingham Public Libraries’ Bookmobile, weather permitting.
The event was supported by the FPS Office of Equity, Diversity, and Community Engagement, the FPS Community Resource Development Department, students and faculty of various elementary and middle schools, the Framingham High School Environmental Awareness Club and the Sustainability Committee. Parents and families were encouraged to attend to learn about opportunities to improve their sustainability and the learn about next steps they can take to help reduce the community’s carbon footprint. A lavish buffet of food and drinks were provided at no cost to visitors.
Here is a mention of the event in local media.
